RAYS WORLD SERIES HIGHLIGHTS, OLYMPIANS TO HALL OF FAME,

INTRODUCING BUCS NEW LEADERS, LIGHTNING MVP AND AMATEUR AWARDS ALL INCLUDED IN 48 TH ANNUAL SPORTS CLUB BANQUET

A jam-packed all-star lineup of professional and amateur sports personalities are slated to be honored at the Sports Club of Tampa Bay’s 48 th Annual Awards Banquet set for Friday, Feb. 13, at 6:30 p.m. The Banquet will be held at Higgins Hall, 5225 North Himes Avenue, recognizing athletic achievements of Tampa Bay’s outstanding amateur and professional teams and individuals.

Tickets are $60 and available through TicketBreak at www.TampaSportsClub.org . Limited tickets may be available at the door. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay plus area collegiate and amateur sports programs.

Hall of Fame inductions are going to Olympic swimmers Brooke Bennett and Nicole Haislett; St. Petersburg Times sports columnist Hubert Mizell, former Major League pitcher Jim “Mudcat” Grant, Miss Budweiser speedboat racer Bernie Little and NFL quarterback Doug Williams.

The American League Champion Tampa Bay Rays are the featured honorees while MVP awards will go to the Rays’ Jason Bartlett and the Lightning’s Martin St. Louis. New Buccaneers’ General Manager Mark Dominik and Head Coach Raheem Morris will address the audience in one of their first public appearances since being named to their posts.

In addition, awards are presented for Florida Sports Personality, Outstanding Citizen, Community Service, and the Coca Cola Golden Helmet awards to the top high school football players and coach in Hillsborough County along with the area’s top amateur athletes and teams.

Sports personalities such as legendary boxing trainer Angelo Dundee and NBA veteran Dwayne Schintzius will be available for autographs. The benefit begins at 6 p.m. with a cash bar reception and sports memorabilia silent auction, dinner at 7 p.m. followed by the award presentation which will be televised live on Brighthouse Networks beginning at 8 p.m.
